Lionel Forrester Jr

Lionel Forrester, Jr was born on October 26th, 1993 in Collingswood, NJ. His drumming career started and the ripe age of three when he started banging on pots and pans, and right then and there his mother saw that the drums were his calling. Lionel began playing at the Baptist Worship Center Church in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the age of six playing early morning services. The church quickly began to notice of his talent, and in 2006, he became the drummer for the youth group Generation Prayze. That same year he began is Rock/Alternative/Hip-hop group Far Off Topic. The six piece rock group started with Lionel and lead guitarist Will Rogers. Now, Far Off Topic has been playing at various venues including Black Diamond Stake Park, Hangar 84, Studio Luloo, and the famous Trocadero Theatre in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. In late 2009, 16 years old Lionel joined his second group, a Rock/Blues/Psychedelic group called Locust wood. For a band that only been together for a couple of months, they’ve already been at one of the top venues in the east coast, The Stone Pony in Asbury Park, NJ. They also have a live CD out already, Locust wood Live!!!!(At the Stone Pony). Over the years Lionel has been blessed to play among the likes of several gospel artist such as: Concepts, Jeff Bradshaw, Matt Kappy, and top-charted recording artist Jeff Majors! Lionel currently plays drums for a new church in Philadelphia called Freedom Church and is working on demos for Far Off Topic, Locust wood, and will be playing drums on Freedom Church’s album which will be released in 2011. Lionel hopes he can increase his talent and hone his gift when he attends University of the Arts in Philadelphia in 2011. He strongly feels that drums are truly a gift from God and that with God, all things are possible. Lionel’s influences include: Clinton M. Jackson, George “Spanky” McCurdy, Thomas Pridgen, Dave Weckl, Vinnie Colaiuta, Steve Gadd, Will Kennedy, Chris Coleman, Chad Smith, Jojo Mayer, Aaron Spears, and Teddy Campbell!
