Kenneth “Mista” Crawford was born on Oct 21, 1983, in the beautiful historic city of Savannah, GA. At a very young age, his interest in music was profound and largely due to his upbringing in the church where both his parents are ministers. He wanted to play on the drums so bad, that he would beat on just about anything until he was bought his first drum set at the age of “5”. Over the next 5 years, Kenneth honed his drumming skills by watching and listening to other drummers. At the age of 10, he started playing the drums at his church. Over the years his skills progressed, and his love for drums grew. He was in his high school band, and later was on the drum line “Krush Groove” at Savannah State University. In 2004, Kenneth had the honor of playing drums with Chosen Gospel Music Ministry out of Savannah, GA. Through this ministry, he was able to play with the group as an opening act for Smokie Norful and the CD release of the East Coast Praise Team. In 2005, Chosen was nominated for and received 2 Newsome Gospel Awards and also the 2005 Best Gospel Choir of the year in Rochester, NY at a choir competition. This encouraged Kenneth to advance his playing skills, so he moved to Atlanta in 2006 to attend the Atlanta Institute of Music where he majored in Music, and minored in Drums. This gave him the opportunity to meet other drummers, attend numerous drum clinics, and learn different styles of music. He has played for numerous churches in the Savannah area including, Abundant Life Ministries, The Sanctuary, Townsley Chapel Baptist Church, Morning Glory Temple of Deliverance and Thankful Baptist Church (which he still plays for Morning Glory and Thankful Baptist). Kenneth has become a well-known and respected drummer throughout Savannah, Ga and the music community, constantly sharing his love of music with everyone he knows. Due to a lot of requests from members of the community, he is currently on the quest of teaching drum lessons to anyone who wants to learn the joy of playing drums.
