Juancho Rojas
Juancho Rojas is a drummer, composer, and producer from Bogotá, Colombia, whose musical journey began before the age of fifteen. Initially self-taught, his early passion for drumming evolved in 1996 under the mentorship of renowned Colombian drummer Pablo Bernal, known for his work with Carlos Vives, Bloque de Búsqueda, and Ciegos Sordomudos. Juancho further enriched his craft by attending clinics with world-class musicians such as Dave Weckl, Archie Peña, Dennis Chambers, Álvaro López, Chester Thompson, and Marco Minnemann.
Versatile and rhythmically innovative, Juancho has explored a broad range of styles including Cumbia, Vallenato, Blues, Pop, Rock, Metal, Punk, Ska, and Funk. This diversity has shaped his distinctive groove-driven sound, widely recognized throughout the Colombian and Latin American music scene. He has performed and recorded with respected artists and bands—primarily in Bogotá—such as Basura, Phantom (Tierra Negra), Plasma II (Dermafónico), Luis Guevara, Willy Maestre, Willy Salcedo, Rafael Escandón, Pablo Bernal, Camilo Hernández, and Mario de Inocencio, among others.
From 2002 to 2007, Juancho helped form several influential rock bands in Cali—Faraea, Hackers, Surocker, Indie One, and Sinestesia—earning recognition within the city’s vibrant rock movement. In 2008, he joined Seis Peatones after a standout audition, marking the beginning of a period of national visibility. That same year he was invited to serve as a jury member for Bogotá Ciudad Rock (Exporock) and performed at major festivals including DC Blues Festival, sharing the stage with Barrelhouse Chuck, Harmonica Todd, and Monsieur Periné. Seis Peatones achieved multiple nominations, including Best Song of the Year (Radiónica, Esfera Rock), and charted among Colombia’s top 100 songs.
Between 2009 and 2012, Juancho and Seis Peatones continued to rise:
• Winners of Best Blues Artist (Subterranica 2009)
• National tours across Colombia
• Performances at Rock al Parque 2010 and 2012, sharing the stage with artists such as Zoé, Mutemath, Andrés Calamaro, Puya, Charly García, NOFX, Inquisition, Skindred, and more

From 2013 to 2020, Juancho formed the Soda Stereo tribute bands Sonodynamo and Toma La Ruta in Miami, performing in major South Florida venues—including the iconic Grand Central, where Sonodynamo headlined the venue’s final sold-out event.
From 2021 to 2025, he founded Rivals & Villains, performing across Tampa and Central Florida’s most important underground rock stages, further expanding his presence in the U.S. independent music scene.
