Joshua C. Williams

Joshua C. Williams

My name is Joshua C. Williams. I’m a native of Cleveland, MS (the Delta). I’m a God fearing man who will ALWAYS put God first no matter what, simply because he is the reason I have been blessed with this gift. I’ve been playing drums since I was five years old. I officially picked up my first pair of drum sticks (Pro Mark 2B) on my fifth birthday (06/20/1995), and it has been history in the making every since. Before birth, God blessed me with a musical gift/talent and ear, and I thank him for that.
As a young child, everything I could get my hands on, I used it to play drums. No matter if it was hangers, forks, spoons, knives, and even food sometimes. My first few years of practicing and drum lessons was giving and monitored by my father Larry Williams, who was also a drummer. I remember learning how to set up drums on my sixth birthday and all I could think was “I’ll never learn how to set up all this stuff. It’s too big and heavy!” But after about 45 minutes with the help of my father, the Ludwig drums was set. Cymbal and stands where in place and the snare and foot paddle followed shortly after. My first song I played was “Victory Is Mines” and I played out in public for the first time when I was seven.
Years has passed and I’ve been blessed way beyond my mind ever thought. I’ve had the chance to travel all over the world playing and meeting new people. I’ve had the opportunity to play in Las Vegas on the Bobby Jones Gospel show (New Gospel Artist Retreat) with my family group “Harmony”. I’ve also had the opportunity to grace the stage with different artist such as The Canton Spirituals, Paul Porter, Rickey Dillard, Deitrick Haddon, Pastor Tim Rodgers, Crystal Rucker, Ashford Sanders, just to name a few. I’m also the main drummer and musical director for Harmony and Coahoma Community College. I’ve also been blessed to record on various artist CDs. Some drummers I listen to and study are Christopher Pat Bounds, Stanly Randolph, Robert “Sput” Searinght, Aaron Spears, Dave Weckl, Calvin Rodgers, and many more.
On the flip side, in my spare time, I like to just hang with my family and friends and most of all, talk drums. I’m the youngest of 4. I also enjoy traveling, going out to the movies, bowling, playing laser tag, basketball. Some of my biggest supporters outside of my family are Kelvin Towers, Corey Toole, Bart Orr, Frank White, Jeremy Freelon, Jarret Box, and the whole Phi Chi Psi National Choir Society. Without these people in my corner pushing me every day, I wouldn’t be the drummer/person I am today.
