Joey Cooksey

Joey Cooksey

Joey began playing drums at an early age and continued into high school where he was natural fit for Tioga High School's Drumline. His talents gave him the opportunity to compete in many drum solo competitions across the state. He was later recognized by his classmates and was named most talented in his class. After school his achievements made him a sought-after addition to local blues, rock and country bands in central Louisiana. After years of involvement inside the music scene he found Rimshott Productions where he started recording drum tracks for various music projects around Louisiana. While still working with Rimshott, he decided to take more control of his own potential and started Hourglass Studios which specializes in tracking and mixing drum tracks in 2017. Joey cofounded the now defunct band Fall of Isaac and provided the drums for their hard hitting single “Dark Side of Everything” recorded at Konkrete Studios in New Orleans. After four years with Fall of Isaac, Joey began searching for new projects which led him to his current role as drummer in two up and coming bands, Wake Theory and Raven Camp. Wake Theory has leveraged their success into a partnership with MxD Records out of Berlin, Germany for their highly-anticipated album “Hypnosis” featuring the singles, “Forever” and “Falling Faster”. The collective talent in Wake Theory has been recognized and ranked both nationally as well as globally, according to Reverb Nation Top 10 since October 2018. His other project Raven Camp is currently writing and perfecting their first album set to be released early on in 2020. Despite these various projects, as well as successes, Joey keeps himself grounded by constantly reminding himself of the fundamentals by passing the art of drumming to a new generation of would be musicians during classes that he teaches at the River Center of Music and Media Arts.
