Jerry Toland

Jerry was born into a family of professional musicians and drummers of all styles but did not follow in his families footsteps until his early twenties. He is self taught and has an exceptional ear; never failing to replicate any groove or beat he is challenged with. Jerry exhibits not only a true understanding of the drums but all facets of the industry making his a name that will continue to be acknowledged and recognize by his peers and ever growing fan base for many years to come.

His introduction into the professional music scene was when he joined an established Canadian country band, The Brenner Brothers. After one of the brothers left the band to explore other opportunities, Jerry restructured and rebranded with the remaining band members to form Johikk which grew instant recognition and popularity nationwide and have since become major Canadian recording artists. Jerry’s leadership and unconventional playing style made him a sought out player in the country scene giving him the opportunity to freelance with such artists as Shane Yellowbird, Willie Mack, Big Mike Callan, Julian Austin, Craig Moritz, Justin Ament, Marty Grambo, Melanie Lane, Lori Kole to name a few.

Jerry has a very non-traditional style of playing for the country genre and his unique style deviates from his drumming influences who are anything but country including his Uncle Theo Pire, who is also a top rated drummer in the scene, his Grandfather, Ted Pire who has been behind a set of drums for over 55 years, David Garibaldi, Carter Beauford, Tony Royster Jr., John Blackwell and of course Dave Weckel.

Jerry currently plays with Universal recording artist, Big Mike Callan and his own popular country group, KixxSin. They are currently playing the major Canadian festivals, pro rodeo’s, clubs and casinos throughout Canada and have recently opened and shared and the stage with acts like Chris Cagle, Johnny Reid, The Roadhammers, Mark Chesnutt and Prism and were nominated for two ACMAs.

Jerry continually works on improving his skills and has a passion for supporting unique quality products such as his custom designed Epek drums and endeavors that he will be playing Soultone cymbals for many years to come.
