Jason Boyd

Born in Alabama, Jason Boyd grew up in the music industry. Jason’s father was a touring artist and performer playing with bands such as Atlanta Rhythm Section (ARS), The Candymen, B.J. Thomas, Percy Sledge, The Platters, and many more national acts... Jason had a passion for music from an early age and started playing drums at the age of 10. Growing up in the studio and being surrounded by incredible musicians Jason started playing with several popular bands in the southeast area. At the age of 20 Jason was a founding member of Spoonful James which later became the backing band for American Idol winner Taylor Hicks. After leaving Spoonful James, Jason started a band with several other Alabama boys called “The Mutt Brothers” They were signed to Vent Records and released two albums. Jason has shared the stage with bands such as B.B. King, Foghat, Peter Frampton, Course of Nature, Widespread Panic, and Kenny Wayne Shepherd to name a few. He has recorded with members of ARS, The Candymen, Beaverteeth, BJ Thomas, and Course of Nature.
In 2008 Jason and his family moved to Houston, TX. He currently plays drums for The Anson Carter Band and Woodlands Church (9th largest church in the US), as well as session/studio work and teaching lessons in the Houston Metro area. Jason proudly endorses Soultone Cymbals, and Los Cabos drumsticks.
