Gabriel Gonzalez

Gabriel Gonzalez

Born August 1987, to parents Nydia and Nelson Gonzalez, Gabriel began his
exposure to great music from the moment his life began. From the Salsa stylings of
Ritchie Ray y Bobby Cruz to the pioneer masters of modern Gospel such as Kirk
Franklin and Fred Hammond, Gabriel grew up learning to love and appreciate it all. At the
tender age of 3, Gabriel was taught his first latin rhythms; his mother completely in awe
as they sat on their kitchen floor. Gabriel’s natural talent and ability was evident. The
spark of amazing passion would begin that day.
Gabriel began playing the drums at his father’s church as early as age 8. Every
week he honed skills that would later drive is professional and personal goals. By high
school, Gabriel had solidified his reputation in the local church and surrounding
community as an extremely capable and talented drummer. He played regularly at his
home church and at local churches within the community. Gabriel began exploring other
areas of music and drumming as the drumline captain in his high school band. While
playing for Kevin & Elite Generation, his talents spread statewide, landing him gigs from
Boston, to Cape Cod and the surrounding areas, allowing him to showcase his talents at
Berklee School of Music; collaborating and playing with students.
He then spent time serving in the United States Marine Corps. Stationed in
Twentynine Palms, California, Gabriel’s music and drum theory caught up with his
already advanced ear and skills capabilities. It was here that he was able to learn the art
of classical, jazz and big band music. He quickly rose to the occasion serving as the
rhythm section commander and percussion section leader for one of the most prestigious
and renowned bands within the United States military.
Recently, Gabriel played full time under Music Director, Jermaine Rodriguez, at
Church On The Rock in St Peters, MO. While at Church on the Rock, he played with and
for Cristabel Clack and Ricardo Sanchez. The services he played in where live streamed
all of the world, specifically the United States, Puerto Rico, Europe, and the Netherlands.
Currently, Gabriel is playing for Ricardo Sanchez at Cornerstone Church in San
Antonio, Tx. His passion and versatility as a drummer and a musician are evident, as he
continues to play music of all genres, effortlessly transitioning from one style to the next.
He has been blessed , humbled, and honored to be sponsored by Soultone Cymbals.
