Fray Gonzalez was born in Maracay, Venezuela in 1976. Growing up, Fray was influenced at a young age by his dad and uncles, where his passion for music began. He moved to the United States on his own in 1994 where he took some time off music to establish new roots. In 1998, with enough saved for a drum set, his love for music reignited as he added to his musical talents. Fray's latin blood lends a unique style to his percussion skills. He plays in a striking variety of bands including jazz, salsa, reggae, Venezuelan Afro-Cuban, and funk as part of the 8 Ohms Band in Washington DC , MD and Virginia .
