Evan Tennant

Evan Tennant

Evan Tennant has been drumming and enjoying music ever since he was an infant. As a toddler he would constantly tap on nearly everything in sight, which eventually led to his parents buying him his first mini drum set. Within a matter of months, that drum set was broken from being played so much. When he was 4, Evan received his first full-size drum kit from his uncle. From that point on, he became very serious about the drums, and always made an effort to be the best that he could be.
Evan began taking drum lessons at age 8, and has been ever since. He currently studies with Kevin Dean, (also a Soultone artist) who is an advanced drummer from Syracuse, New York, who has toured with several bands and taught students for many decades. Evan was entered into his first all-county school band festival at age 11, and continued to be involved in county and state festivals all throughout his high school career, including the New York State Band Directors Association (NYSBDA) all-state high school jazz band in 2020. As a frequent participant of the New York State School Music Association (NYSSMA) festivals, Evan has achieved a perfect score for a level 6 drum set solo in 2019. He was also featured on Syracuse’s News Channel 9 “Extraordinary Talent” segment with Carrie Lazarus at age 16.
In addition to being involved with music academically, Evan has been involved in the music scene much more frequently outside of school. He has played with several bands throughout New York, including the Blacklites, Menage A Soul, and the Blues Ignition Band which performed in the 2019 New York State Blues Festival. One of his biggest achievements was being one of the five winners in the internet famous drummer Casey Cooper’s (coop3rdrumm3r) Stuck at Home Drum Challenge, an online drumming contest on Youtube open to entries worldwide during the pandemic.
Not only is Evan a drummer, but he also plays guitar and bass, and is an independent audio engineer; writing music on his own as well as producing, mixing and mastering songs for clients which have ended up on local radio.
Evan is also involved in several projects currently. He mainly performs with Sydney Irving and the Mojo, an up and coming group from New York known to master several different styles of music. Evan has been with the group since the summer of 2020, and has continued to be a part of this very successful group. The band performed in over 90 shows in the year 2021 alone, and is continuing to book a steady number of shows for the future. Evan is also a member of his church’s worship team, and continues to play at district events and campgrounds across the state of New York.
Evan is very proud to be a Soultone Cymbals artist, and looks forward to working with the company well into the future to help progress his career in music.
