Elijah William Brown lives in the quiet valley town of Manchester, Vermont. Living in a very musical household, Elijah was inspired by musical theatre parents and singer/songwriter sister Eleah Porter to learn how to play piano. After his first few piano lessons at the tender age of five, his teacher told Elijah’s parents that he was a quick learner but was “too wild” and that he “couldn’t stop banging on stuff”. Later, this intense and explosive energy would find a home when Elijah started playing the drums. However, at this time, the only answer to Elijah’s plea, “Mommy can you please just buy me a drum set!?” was “no, practice the piano”. His persistence paid off though, as by the time he turned nine, his parents finally caved and bought him his first drum kit. Elijah went on to take lessons with Mike Chapman, Andrew Alden, Donald Knack (nominated for a Grammy Award), and with his most significant mentor, Chris Stone (drummer for deSol, and has studied with Max Weinberg of the E Street Band). His dedication to learning the drums has landed Elijah gigs with Burnham (Internationally famous pop band), the Please Stay Band, and Hollywood Ending (internationally famous pop band). Elijah has also performed in the Vermont Green Mountain District Jazz Band and Concert Band Festival, and at the Times Union Center in Albany as part of the pep band for the Albany River Rats. Elijah has also taken part in the Vermont All State Music Festival as a lead percussionist. Although making a name for himself in the local community, Elijah aspires to have a drumming career where his name will become a fixture in the music/drumming community. Elijah’s main style interests are pop, rock, funk, latin rock, and jazz fusion. His major influences are Chris Stone, Mike Johnston, Eric Moore, Tony Royster Jr., Jojo Mayor, John Blackwell, Dennis Chambers, Dave Weckl, John Bonham, Michael Martinez, and Carter Beauford. Elijah hopes that he will be able to maintain a career out of his passion, drumming. For now, Elijah is focused on playing drums with Hollywood Ending and maintaining an A average in school as well as trying to develop himself to become the best drummer that he can be.
