Donavan was born in San Jose, California and has been playing drums since 12. Now at the age of 18 he has already moving forward to starting his career. After his father joined the choir and praise team at church he was able to get a firsthand look at what music was all about at the age of 9. Week after week he watched the drummer and studied his every move and then decided to join his school band. Later he moved from tenor drums and knew there was something more. Later he was given the biggest challenge that would change his perspective on music and life. Donavan was told that if you passed a audition camp try out with a competitive marching band called the Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle corp. On his first try Donavan not only passed but was handed a check to paid full tuition for the 2007 season. It was there Donavan learned how to read very quickly. Donavan later became involved in his school jazz band and drum line which led him to be featured on the front page of the local newspaper. Donavan is now in college working towards his degree in music and not totally decided on the minor in business.
Donavan is now an assistant to the band director who is overseeing two high school music programs for percussion. He is currently holding a seat with his church Cathedral of Faith in San Jose, California and at one of its satellite church as well. In his spare time he may cover other drummers at other churches or even a local jazz trio and is building up his clientele giving private lessons. Donavan is also working towards his own project in addition to studio work with other bay area artist.
Donavan uses a combination of the, gospel, inferno, extreme series and vintage.
