Diego Iván Caetano Guerra
Diego Iván Caetano Guerra was born and raised in Montevideo, Uruguay. His first interaction with music was with the lessons that his grandmother had paid him at the age of 4, learning basic piano skills and theory.
Diego´s childhood was musically influenced with the Uruguayan Folk that his father loved, mtv bands like Limp Bizkit, Linkin Park, Papa Roach, The Offpring, System Of A Down, Metallica, Marilyn Manson, etc.
His admiration for John Dolmayan´s drumming inspired him to ask for drumming lessons at the age of 13. The teacher Marcelo Jimenez, a death metal/progressive drummer, introduced his pupil to a new range of music, such as Sepultura, Children Of Bodom and Rammstein.
With Diego´s parents efforts, his first drum kit arrived at the age of 14, making him abandon his drum lessons as he spent so many hours playing that he forgot to go...
As time passed, drumming approached him to his first band. Doing so, Diego fell in love with progressive bands such as Dream Theater, Panzerballet, Muse, Animals As Leaders, Opeth, etc.
As a composer, his first experience came with the band that he co-founded with Federico Doglio, Alex Lezcano and Selene Dominguez, named "Proyecto Aleatoria". An important experience to his carrer, that led him to find his current band, named "Coda" at that moment in time.
For a few years he participated in Uruguayan Carnival, which gave him a lot more of exploration on native music, and gig everyday in most scenarios of Montevideo. This little journey lasted 3 years, experiencing the role of band director, arranger and composer, having some awards as Best Live Band, 2nd Price on Humourists with "Los Chobys" and Best Parade.
Actually, he´s heading "Elarcos" first album recording, and he´s co-leading "Children Of Dragon Maiden" with Alex Lezcano
