Brandon Cavitt

My name is Brandon Cavitt, I was born and raised in Reynosa, Tamaulipas. Mexico.

I started my early musical career back in my hometown at age 13, playing local metal and hardcore gigs with my bestfriend Roberto. I was involved in music from an early age (8 years old) as my father is a drummer too, so it was very common for me to sit in on their rehearsals and that’s when I started picking up the sticks and started mimicking my dad. Fast forward to when I was 11 and I really got into rock music. My main influences at the time being Avenged Sevenfold, Pantera, and Slipknot. My dad was able to teach me all basics and helped me polish my technique. It wasn’t until 2010 when I met who is now my best friend (Roberto) and we shared so much in common, we decided to form a cover band with some other people from school. We had our first show at our town's fair and it went really well. We even appeared on local news (there was a picture of our moshpit on the front page lol). Obviously, we were very young and we were still learning about life and we had responsibilities (school). Our first band broke up after a handful of shows. But we shared other projects as we were growing up.

We’re now in 2016, I graduated from High School and I get the opportunity to start college in California, more specifically the Bay Area. So the adventure starts. I discovered that there were music classes at my college and I Immediately tried to go for it. I was able to learn so much from my professors. Taking lessons, gigging with jazz ensembles, and most importantly, expanding my musical taste. I fell in love with CA and what it gave me. I really cherish how much I was able to learn in terms of music, technique, musicianship.

There was an event in 2019 that made me go back to my hometown and take care of my mom and I had to drop out of college and quit my job. It was really hard, it stopped me from gigging and learning more as well. Fortunately, my mom was able to recover after a year and I was back on trying to get back on track with life and music.

Then in 2020 I decided to move to Dallas, TX since it’s closer to my hometown and way cheaper than CA. And as we all know, that was just bad timing. The pandemic happened and I could not get back into music obviously. Then 2021 came in with some opportunities, I decided to become a worship drummer for the stability of those gigs and to get out of my comfort zone. I was able to land a contract with Elevate Life Church where I was able to learn their playing style and have my first interaction with professional gear.

And now in 2022 I am working with an event agency playing private events and local places, while still being a worship drummer. I am so grateful for my growth and the opportunities that have been given to me along the way, despite the rough/low times.

And now I am super grateful and excited to start my relationship with Soultone cymbals.
