ARAN NAGASHIMA

Aran Nagashima (a.k.a Alan) was born and raised in Saitama, Japan. He is half Japanese and half Filipino. He started to take piano lessons when he was at the age of 9, then started to play drums at the age of 16. When he was in Japan, he studied drums with Yoshiyuki Kuroda of Rhythm Clinic Center known as RCC. After graduating high school, he moved to Los Angeles.

Alan holds both Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degree in Percussion Performance from Azusa Pacific University.

While he was in school, he studied drums with Mark Converse, Alan Waddington, Mike Packer, Drew Hemwall; classical percussion with Bill Schlitt and Raynor Carroll. He also had private lessons with Ralph Humphrey and Peter Erskine.

Alan started to play professionally as freelance drummer and concert percussionist based in Los Angeles and Orange County area while he was working on his bachelor degree.

He has wide variety of experiences working in music industry such as musicals shows, big bands, jazz combos, churches, symphony orchestras, recording sessions, support gigs for artists and bands, and teaching.

Alan is currently based in Tokyo, however, he is often out of town to serve as show band/ party band drummer on cruise ships playing music in different styles, genres, and eras. He is flying back and forth between Japan and ships.

He enjoys playing music, traveling, and working with interesting people and musicians from all over the world.

Alan is very happy to be a part of Soultone family, get to use the cymbals that work perfectly for wide variety of music he loves to play.
