Angie Valenzuela aka Willow

Born on February 24, 1986, in West Covina, CA… Angie Valenzuela (AKA Willow Vamp) started her musical journey through her father’s truck tape deck at the age of 4. Riding along with her dad to his nightly second job every evening, they’d sing along to the “No Rest for the Wicked” album by Ozzy, “And Justice for All” by Metallica, and “British Steel” by Judas Priest. She eventually found her love for The Beatles when she found her father’s “The Beatles 1962-1966” LP in the garage and began to play it until she memorized every word of every song. She evolved into all types of genres throughout the years, such as Grunge, Progressive Rock/Metal, Heavy Metal, Black Metal, Death Melodic Metal, Ambient Doom Metal, Symphonic Metal, Post Punk Synth, and Goth Metal.

Having a diverse taste in music, at the age of 12, she picked up the keyboard and commenced to play and thereafter transitioned to guitar. She also played bass guitar for her high school’s jazz band momentarily. In college, she composed and recorded an unreleased horror concept album which included tracks with guitar, keys, drum loops and vocals.

At the age of 23, she met a multi-instrumentalist who was looking for a drummer for his band. She jokingly expressed that she had messed around with drums in high school with her friends but never to have thought she would essentially be asked to join the band: Molly Vamp.

In 2009, the band had their first performance with Willow on board at the Whisky A Go-Go in Hollywood, CA, after only rehearsing twice a few nights before. It was a success and the beginning of what is now a three piece Goth Rock/Metal band which has played a little over 250 shows as of 2023. Bringing in Willow’s elaborate musical influence to the band, the drums tend to keep a classic rock chop with fast-driven beats that could also lead to ballads with a dark twist. Willow continues to perform with Molly Vamp after 15 years of fun-filled shows and events throughout Southern CA.
