Allan Shrestha is an up and coming drummer currently based in London. He was born and raised in Kathmandu, Nepal. Starting to cause havoc in the kitchen playing pots and pans at an early age, it was inevitable he would later grow up to become a drummer.
Inspired by seeing his brother's band rehearse since he was young, there was something about drums that fascinated him. Luckily, his dad bought a drum kit and with the guidance of his brother started playing drums and slowly began his journey in music.
He played with different bands but quickly got recognised playing with Cruentus, which is a black metal band. They won various music competitions and Allan received the "Best Drummer" award on all of them. They recorded a full length album called "Asantusta Aatma" which is still hailed as one of the best metal albums in Nepal.
Later inspired by bands like Dream Theater and Planet X, he formed a progressive rock/fusion band called "Karmavalanche" which also won one the first jazz/fusion competition held in Nepal as part of Jazzmandu (Kathmandu Jazz Festival).
Having no formal education in music, Allan decided to join Drumtech and moved to London, to pursue his career in music. There he did a Diploma and Bachelors degree. After graduating he started doing a lot of gigs and sessions with various artists and bands. Allan currently plays with:
- Soul Trigger (funk/rock) - "Warning Shot" EP is available in iTunes.
- Yak Attack (afro/asian/funk) - "Taal Sutra" EP
