ST. JAMES - In July my NMV's Jazz Message became a part of the "Jamming at St. James" initiative at St. James United Church. Every two weeks my quartet has played for the lunch hour crowd and tourists who visit this beautiful historic downtown landmark. Many thanks to Reverend Bonnar and the staff of St. James for their support and kindness. It has been very successful and will be continued.
HOUSE OF JAZZ LAVAL! Since arriving in Montreal I have been invited to play a number of times at the fabulous and historic House Of Jazz on Alymer Street. House Of Jazz owner, Georges Durst, recently announced the opening of another House Of Jazz location - HOUSE OF JAZZ LAVAL. I visited recently for a preview and was just stunned. The club is nothing short of breathtaking. Georges has truly outdone himself. The main lounge is beautiful with a huge stage, ringed above by a balcony of gold and black. Everywhere you look there are objects d'art gathered by Mr. Durst in his worldwide travels. With four bars, two large private dining rooms, a club room, beautiful stained glass ceilings and over 100 crystal chandeliers, the House Of Jazz Laval will be a landmark and must-see for everyone. Truly an homage to jazz and blues with a lineup of some of the best musicians and vocalists anywhere!
The House Of Jazz Laval opens September 6th and I am proud that my Norman Marshall Villeneuve's Jazz Message will perform every Friday starting September 12 for the 6:30-9p show. I cannot wait to sit on the drummer's platform 10 feet above the floor, to play with some of the best musicians around. I hope you will stop by for a fabulous evening of exciting music and great dining!
